2009 Honda Civic Hybrid with advanced IMA Hybrid Technology

- 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid
The Honda Civic Hybrid with advanced IMA hybrid technology achieves an EPA-estimated city/highway fuel economy of 40/45 miles per gallon and is updated for 2009 with the addition of Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and the availability of leather-trimmed interior which includes heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated side mirrors.
The Honda Civic Hybrid is certified by the California Air Resource Board (CARB) as Advanced-Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV). A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard equipment. The Honda Civic Hybrid can deactivate all four of its cylinders and operate using only the electric motor in certain low-speed cruising situations. Power for the Honda Civic Hybrid is provided by a 1.3-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a 15 kilowatt electric motor, producing a combined 110-horsepower @ 6000 rpm and combined 123 lb-ft. of torque @ 1000-2500 rpm.
Chances are that most people consider the Civic an alternative hybrid vehicle to the Prius, rather than the other way around. The Prius’ 2009 EPA rating is currently 48/45 mpg city/highway, its cabin is both upscale and roomy, and its exterior styling has become synonymous with “hybrid.” But the Civic Hybrid continues to draw its distinction by offering fuel-saving technology in a more conventional style. If you like saving the planet while blending in the highway, you might also consider the Toyota Camry Hybrid. In addition to a more traditional shape, this option is praised for the balanced drive offered by the four-cylinder engine and hybrid motor.
The gas-engine Honda Civic comes in a number of trims, as well as a performance Si trim and the two-door coupe, but the 2009 Civic Hybrid is only offered as a four-door sedan. The exterior has been slightly refreshed and new interior features have been added for 2009.
Be sure to check for current Honda deals that may be available on the gas-engine Civic or the Civic Hybrid.
